OTET 2014 Syllabus, Exam Pattern and Qualifying Mark Details

Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test 2014 is Online registration has been started . It is also called as Second OTET 2013 because this exam is held twice a year. The online application form is available in the official website of http://www.bseodisha.nic.in from 4th January 2014 to 25 th January 2014. The syllabus and Exam Pattern for OTET 2014 is given in brief for the candidates those are applying for the post. Read the details to know more about it.

OTET 2014 Syllabus:

OTET  exam will be held for  two papers namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. The candidates those are working as primary school teacher can appear the paper 1 Exam however the Paper 2 exam is for the candidates those are working as high school teacher.

Paper 1 Exam Pattern & Syllabus:

Paper 1 exam will be held for five papers namely.
  1. Child Development & Pedagogy = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  2. Language-I, Odia/ Urdu/ Hindi/ Telugu/ Bengali = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  3. Language-II (English) = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  4. Mathematics = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  5. Environment Studies  = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  • In each subject area 20
    questions will be set form 
    contents & 10 questions 
    from Pedagogy. All 150 
    questions shall be of 
    multiple choice type with 
    four choices.  
  • As per NCTE guide line, the questions in the paper-I will be based on the topics of the Prescribed syllabus of the state for class I to V but their difficultly standard as well as linkages could be up to the secondary stage.  
  • The duration of the test in each paper shall be two hours & thirty minutes.  
  • All questions shall be of multiple choice category carrying  one mark with four alternatives; out of which the candidates are required to find out  one  correct answer.  
  • The candidates shall record the answers on OMR Sheet by darkening the circles completely with Blue/ Black ball point pen only.  
  • The question papers in non-language subjects shall be in Odia & English.  
  • The candidates have to choose any one of the following language for language-I, in both paper; i.e. Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali.  
  • Language-II shall be English for all candidates in both the papers. 
  • Candidates applying for Paper-II shall have to choose either Mathematics & 
  • Science or Social Studies as one the Optional Subject.  
  • There shall be no negative marks in OTET exam.  
  • The minimum pass mark in each paper is 60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%.  
  • There shall be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can make for acquiring OTET qualifying  certificate. A person who has qualified in OTET may also appear again for improving his / her score.  
  • The validity period of OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet shall be a period of 7(seven) years from the date of OTET Exam.  
  • Successful candidates shall be awarded with  an OTET Certificate by Board of Secondary Education, Odisha. Eligibility mentioned at para (i) to (iv)/ above, shall   3 be verified by the recruiting  agency/ appropriate authorities at the time of recruitment.

Paper 2 Exam Pattern & Syllabus:

Paper 2 is for those candidates who wants to  work as teacher is High School level. The syllabus contains the three compulsory subject carrying 90 marks and one Optional subject carrying 60 marks. That is total 150 marks. The question pattern is like this
  1. Child Development & Pedagogy = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  2. Language-I, Odia/ Urdu/ Hindi/ Telugu/ Bengali = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
  3. Language-II (English) = 30 Questions Carrying 30 Marks
The candidates has to choose one subject from the below given two subjects viz
  1. A- Mathematics & 
    Science = 
    60 (30 questions from Mathematics and 30 questions from Science)
  2. B - Social Studies.= 60 (30  questions from History & Political Science & 30 questions from Geography).  
Candidates has to choose any one subject from the above two optional subject. It will carry total 60 marks. 

What is The Qualifying Mark for OTET Paper 1 & 2 Exam?

The minimum pass mark for Paper I and II is  60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%
