OTET 2018 Syllabus, Exam Pattern and Qualifying Mark Details


Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test 2018 Exam notification is still not published.  The online application form will be available in the official website of http://www.bseodisha.nic.in just after the declaration of the OTET Exam notice. The syllabus and Exam Pattern for OTET 2018 is given in brief for the candidates those are applying for the post. Read the details to know more about it.

OTET 2018 Syllabus:

OTET  exam will be held for  two papers namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. A person who want to be a teacher in Primary school (Class I to V) has to appear for Paper-1 exam, and a person who want to be a teacher is in Upper Primary School (Class VI to VII) has to appear for Paper-2 Examination. If any one want to be a teacher in both primary as well as Upper Primary School, then he has to appear both the Paper 1 and 2 exam. The details syllabus and exam pattern is mentioned below.

OTET Paper 1 Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2018:


Paper-I paper has 5 subject. Out of these 5 subject one is Language-I subject which is optional. A candidate can choose any Language Paper from Odia/ Urdu/ Hindi/ Telugu/ Bengali
  1. Child Development & Pedagogy =30 Marks
  2. Language-I, Odia/ Urdu/ Hindi/ Telugu/ Bengali = 30 Marks
  3. Language-II (English) = 30 Marks
  4. Mathematics = 30 MCQ = 30 Marks
  5. Environment Studies  = 30 Marks

1. From each paper 30 questions will be asked. Out of these in every subject, 20 questions from theory and 10 questions from Pedagogy subjects.

2. all questions objective type multiple choice questions with 4 option, out of which one option is the answer.

3. Duration of exam is 2 Hour and 30 Minutes.

4. The candidates shall record the answers on OMR Sheet by darkening the circles completely with Blue/ Black ball point pen only.  

5. All questions except the ENGLISH Paper, will come in both Odia and English Language.
6. The candidates have to choose any one of the following language for language-I, in both paper; i.e. Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali.  

7. Total number of questions 150. And full mark is 150 Marks

8. No-Negative Marking for Wrong Answer.

OTET Paper 2 Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2018:


Paper 2 is for those candidates who wants to  work as teacher is High School level. Paper-II syllabus contains the three compulsory subject carrying 90 marks and one Optional subject carrying 60 marks. A candidate have to choose and one optional papers from A and B That is total 150 marks. The question pattern is like this
  1. Child Development & Pedagogy = 30 Marks
  2. Language-I, Odia/ Urdu/ Hindi/ Telugu/ Bengali = 30 Marks
  3. Language-II (English) = 30 Marks
  4. Optional A- Mathematics & Science = 60 Marks
  5. Optional B - Social Studies.= 60 Marks

1. 150 MCQ each having 4 Options. 

2. 1 Mark for each correct answer and NO Negative Marking for Wrong answer.

3. 30 questions will e asked from each subjects.

4. Time duration of exam 2:30 Hour

What is The Qualifying Mark for OTET Paper 1 & 2 Exam?

The minimum pass mark for Paper I and II is  60%. A person securing 60% or more in a paper shall be considered OTET Pass. In case of SC, ST, PH, OBC/ SEBC candidate, the minimum pass mark shall be 50%


Validity Of OTET Certificate ?

The validity period of OTET qualifying certificate / mark sheet shall be a period of 7(seven) years from the date of OTET Exam.
